Between 2010 and 2011, Future released a barrage of mixtapes which caused people to take notice of him. After the releases, Future signed a label deal with Epic Records and Rocko’s A1 Recordings. This deal helped Future release his own record label called Freebandz. After this major move, Future started working on his debut album. This album, Pluto, was released in April, 2012.  Some notable songs include “Tony Montana,” which features Drake, and “Magic,” which features T.I. Magic became Future’s first track to go in the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  After being released, Future repackaged his debut album Pluto, and changed it to Pluto 3D. In this version he added 3 new songs, and 2 remix songs. On January 15, 2013 Future released F.B.G.: The Movie. In this mixtape, Future debut all the newest artist in the Freebandz record label. Some of these artist include: Young Scooter, Slice9, Casino, Mexico Rann and Maceo. The mixtape was a success seen as it went platinum. From the past to now, Future has released more than 5 projects. He’s seen as a rapper that never sleeps; he’s always working. This is why now he is seen as such a prolific rapper. Future, recently released his fourth studio album, EVOL, on Feb. 6, 2016.

Produced by Metro Boomin, Future debuted his album through DJ Khaled’s We the Best Radio on Beats 1, this kicking of Khaled’s radio channel. Future so far has released nothing but straight fire, seven months before releasing EVOL he released his album DS2 collaborating with artists such as Drake and Pharrell Williams. Notable songs like “Thought It Was a Drought” and “Where Ya At” are on the album. Five months before releasing EVOL Future released a mixtape collaboration with Drake called What A Time To Be Alive fire songs like Jumpman, Big Rings and Diamonds Dancing are on the mixtape.

Future fans were satisfied with his previous works expecting more from the Atlanta rapper, he recently released a new mixtape called Purple Reign released on Jan. 17, 2016, this mixtape soon got fans hyped as for they knew that Future was cooking up something big. With the release of EVOL the wait was over, for the first time in less than seven months Future was on top once again with the number 1 spot. Coming in with consecutive number one spots Future has once again satisfied the masses with selling approximately 150,000 units including streams.

EVOL comes through with the song “Ain’t No Time.” The hook is extremely catchy and makes listeners engaged and expect more songs like this to appear later in the album. Future is able to deliver on this with songs like “Maybach,” “Photo Copied” and “Low Life.” Future’s flow has brought him to the top of the rap game, which may make it surprising to some that he had a struggle with his first LP’s.

Future has also received support from celebrities outside the music world. Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is a well known fan of Future’s music. “Fly Sh*t Only” was the theme song in his beats commercial .

 

“Future picks hot beats,” senior Matthew Michael said, “and is the poster boy for this Atlanta rap fad that everybody has been listening to and trying to mimic lately.”

“I think his music is good because some of the lyrics in his songs are very catchy,” Poudel said, “and he has the best DJ’s.”

“I listen to his music when I’m in the car and at the gym,” Poudel said.

 

Future has most certainly had a monstrous year. His discography in 2015 alone surpasses some artists’ entire careers. While quantity doesn’t always ensure quality, Future still is able to make good music while seemingly releasing or announcing a new project once every couple of months.

“I think his work ethic is amazing,” senior Ananda Poudel said, “because he’s working in the studio on a daily basis.”

This output is currently unmatched by any other rapper at as high of a level of success as Future.

“No one works as hard as him,” senior Issac Tecle said.

Future released his newest album, EVOL, in early February, less than a month after releasing his mixtape Purple Reign. Produced by Metro Boomin and Ben Billions, the album was debuted through DJ Khaled’s We the Best Radio on Beats 1, kicking off Khaled’s radio channel.

Future is able to deliver on this with songs like “Maybach,” “Photo Copied” and “Low Life.” The song “Fly Sh*t Only” was the theme song in a Beats commercial starring Cam Newton, a big fan of Future’s.

Future’s amazing year in 2015 put him in commercials for Nike and Beats, made a fan out of the NFL MVP, and amassed a huge fan following known as #FutureHive.

“I believe that Future had a great 2015,” Tecle said, “dropping so many hot songs and mixtapes after coping with depression and divorce.”

As Future picks up where he left off in 2016, AHS students are glad to see him continue the constant release of new music.

“I really like it because his songs get me very hyped,” senior Dini Mohamud said. “I loved Purple Reign top to bottom, one of his best mixtapes. I have listened to EVOL and it’s very good, my favorite songs are ‘Maybach’, ‘Xanny Family’ and ‘Lil’ Haiti Baby’.”

“I think it’s great that he never stops making music,” Poudel said, “because the songs in the albums EVOL and Purple Reign get me hyped and he also has the coolest DJ in the world.”

Even though at times it seems like Future releases new music too often, fans can’t get enough because of his catchy hooks and impeccable beat selection.

As Future continues his hot streak from last year, with a mixtape and album already released in 2016, he doesn’t seem to be cooling down any time soon.
