In a few days, everyone who believes they can make a difference in the country, and everyone who feels as they should try to make a difference will be going out to vote at their local precinct.

When citizens do vote, they will be deciding the country’s fate for the next four years. And if they wish for the country to step in a better direction, they should vote for Barack Obama (D-Ill).

As the polls show, Senator Obama has been in the lead since he was announced as the Democratic nominee. The only time John McCain (R-Az) has threatened his top status was during his Republican Convention, but numbers always increase for a candidate during their convention. Obama returned to the lead soon after the convention was over.

McCain argues that Barack Obama is inexperienced, his policies lean too far to the left, and that he wants to take money from people through his taxes.

The truth is that even though John McCain has much greater senatorial experience than Obama, he doesn’t have any more executive experience. Of course Obama’s plans lean to the left, but since most people trust his policies on the economy over McCain’s according to the Washington Post poll, which is now considered the most important issue.

Senator Obama makes more people excited about him being president than McCain does, as shown by his large rallies, high amount of raised money, and by Washington Post polls. He also brings in many younger voters, who usually stay at home for various reasons such as apathy or laziness.

The most important thing that people are thinking about for this election is change. Change from the past eight years. Change from how the country’s been run. If Barack Obama has proved anything, it is that he can bring about this change.

McCain however, is definitely more like the current president. The basis of this thought is not only on the fact that he is a Republican, and that he has voted with President Bush 90% of the time. The fact is his platform is closer to President Bush’s, and if anyone wants a real change to the country, a better change, they had better vote for Barack Obama.

Early in the election process, John McCain showed himself as a decent guy, with a lot of experience and a tough past. His judgment was good, but it definitely took a hard blow, and caused many people to question it after he chose Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, to be his vice presidential nominee.

Palin has been ridiculed again and again for many things. She doesn’t usually seem to know what she’s talking about. She seems to do what ever she wants to do. Some people who are part of McCain’s campaign have even come out and called her a diva.

Barack Obama is a good, smart man. While some may call him elitist, they must take into consideration that this man thinks he can run this great country. Do people really want the average Joe to make policies and sign laws? Or would they want an intelligent man who knows what he’s doing to make these decisions?

In the end, Barack Obama would be a better leader. This Tuesday in the voting booth, hopefully people will forget all their unfounded biases against him and realize that he really can rule. People should vote for Barack Obama.
