Screams erupted from the crowd as they performed the wave all across the Invesco Field stadium. Spotlights raced around, adding to the swelling excitement. The energy that filled the stadium could be mistaken for fanatic sports fans whose team had just won the Super Bowl. Cheers and hollers permeated the air as Barack Obama stepped out onto the stage, waving to the crowd. There was no need for him to act like a celebrity; he already was one.
A record setting crowd of over 84,000 people crowded the stands yelling “OBAMA!” This was the occasion many Democrats had been waiting for.
In all five days that I attended the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado, nothing fell short of spectacular. The DNC worked to coordinate every event and every speaker to appeal to all audiences. There were performances by popular musicians of the younger music culture including Jennifer Hudson and John Legend, as well as other bands that appealed to the middle aged generation.
The speakers ranged from former presidents to current governors and other politicians. I never thought that I would be given this sort of opportunity as a high school student.
The convention was unlike anything I have ever experienced and it completely changed my view of American Politics. Perhaps now I will consider a career in this field. |
