Q. What school did you previously teach at? A. Previously, I taught in the Hollidaysburg school district in Pennsylvania. I have also taught in Norway, which was a unique cultural experience. The landscapes and sunsets were extremely beautiful, and I could step right out of my dorm, put on my skis and go cross country skiing! Q. What college did you attend? A. I went to Penn State University. Q. What are some of the previous jobs you’ve had? A. I was an Engineering Intern at a foam company and I remained as a teaching assistant at my high school for some time. I also worked at the Center of Sustainability at Penn State University and helped with educational outreach programs. Q.Why did you decide to teach at AHS? A. I knew that Fairfax County was a good county to teach in. There was an opening at AHS and I relished the thought of teaching at a highly diverse school. Q. Did you have to make any sacrifices to move here? A. I had to move away from my family, but still they are only two and a half hours away. Q. What do you like about AHS? A. I like that all the students are really nice. Everyone seems to get along very well. Q. What do you miss about your old school? A. For the most part, I miss my old students. Q. What is different about AHS? A. Annandale High School is extremely diverse. I taught in a very homogonous environment before coming here. At Annandale, I feel like I’m teaching the world. I learn a lot by observing how people react to me and what I teach. I like dealing with student preconceptions concerning physics. Q. How do you feel about your students? A. love ‘em. They’ve been great so far, and are very attentive. For the most part, they’ve been very kind to a new teacher. Q. How do you feel about your co-workers? A. I like my co-workers. They have alot of experience, more than me. Its been a lot of fun. I really appreciate how they have made me feel welcome. Q. What are you looking foward to this year? A. I have some fun projects planned and I can’ t wait to see how my students do and what they come up with.
