Why is this club important to you?
It’s really important for teenagers our age to be politically aware. This club allows for students to have a direct role in politics by campaigning.
What made you want to join the join the club?
I have always had an interest in politics and this way I can be directly involved.
Why did you want to run for president?
I ran for president, because I wanted to make sure that students were able to participate in this years historic election.
What are your duties as president?
I have to lead the meetings, send out emails, and keep the members updated on local political activities.
What is the best part about being a part of this club?
You get to meet local politicians, and being able to campaign for democrats.
What types of activities does your club do?
We campaign by fundraising, canvassing, and we take part in the homecoming and the Annandale parades. Where we march with local politicians.
How much time do you put into this club?
I don’t spend too much time planning for the meetings, but I spend a lot of time campaigning.
What has been the best experience for you in this club?
Being able to campaign and knowing that as a student you have a direct effect on politics.
Why should people join your club?
Students should join the Young Democrats, so that they can not only increase their awareness about political issues, but know that they can have an active role in local politics.
What changes would you like to make to the club?
After the elections are over, I would like to have more activities together as a club, because last year after the elections were over, we just kinda died out.
Do you enjoy being a leader?
Yes, I’m very independent and I like to be the person that people rely on. Plus, I’m a control freak.
This club meets on Wednesdays at 2:15 in room 153.
