Annandale High School hosted the field hockey Patriot District championship semi-finals Monday, Oct. 22. At 6pm Lake Braddock took to the field against T.C. Williams. At the end of the second half the game was tied 1-1. Lake Braddock scored in overtime to advance to the district finals, earning a 2-1 win. South County and West Springfield followed lake Braddock’s win. The two teams played a similar game, each scoring one goal. The South County Stallions eventually scored in overtime, to win 2-1. Lake Braddock and South County faced off last night, Oct. 23 at 7pm in the Patriot District finals. By the second half the score was 2-0, Lake Braddock. Lake Braddock continued to dominate the game, scoring once more in the second half to win the district 3-0. Following the game, Lake Braddock was awarded the title of Patriot District Champions.
All four teams, Lake Braddock, South County, T.C. Williams, and West Springfield will advance to the first round of regionals. Regionals will be held at Oakton Thursday Oct. 25. Following the championship game all-district and tournament-teams were announced. Coaches nominated players across the district for positions on the all-district team and tournament-team. Two Annandale players, Senior Mary Bermingham and Junior Marisa Tordella made first-team all-district. And Junior Marisa made the tournament-team.
