Black Out the Sun Tour experience

Black Out the Sun Tour experience

On Friday, Sept 2nd, five adventurous AHS students went to Bristow, Virginia.  It all began at 7:00pm at Jiffy Lube Live: the Zac Brown Band #BlackOuttheSun tour.

“It was the best night of my life! It was so fun! All the songs were so fun to dance around to with my friends and I just love country music,” said senior Tehya Moss.

Some of the Zac Brown set list hits included: Castaway, Goodbye in Her Eyes, Toes, Knee Deep, Loving You Easy, Beautiful Drug, Homegrown, and Chicken Fried. “Chicken Fried and Knee Deep were everyone’s favorites. Everyone was jumping up and down and screaming when those songs came on!” said Moss.

Like all great artists, Zac Brown Band was able to perform covers of other artists and incorporate the songs into their own distinct style.

The covers vary to each location performed on tour but the songs performed at Jiffy Lube include: S.O.B. by Nathaniel Rateliff, Freeborn Man by the Outlaws, Jack & Diane by John Mellencamp, Broken Arrows by Avicii, and Baba O’Riley by The Who.”I did not know any of the covers but they were still really fun to listen to.” said Moss. More popular covers performed at other locations during the Black Out the Sun tour include; All Apologies by Nirvana, Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kashmir by Led Zeppelin, and The Devil Went Down to Georgia by The Charlie Daniels Band. Another feature is the encore of the show. In their past set lists and the list on Sept 2nd they have done encores every show. “I have been to other concerts and I have seen encores before. I wasn’t that excited because I knew it was coming,” said Moss.

“Me and my girlfriends got ready and and did makeup together. Then our friend drove us. We listened to country music in the car to get hyped for the concert. Jiffy Lube is a very popular spot for summer concerts. It was a perfect way to end the summer!” said Moss.
