There is some promising news out of the New York Times pertaining to our generation. Reportedly, children in 2010 consumed less calories than they did a decade prior. In this sentiment, these following statistics pertaining to health are brought to you from the Forum on Child and Family Statistics.

  • In four years, there has been a 39% increase in the the amount of 13-17 year-olds who have been vaccinated for meningitis
  • The number of births to adolescent girls ages 15 to 17 dropped from 20 per 1,000
  • The percentage of children from birth to 17 years of age living in households classified by the USDA as “food insecure” has decreased
  • The number of deaths before the first birthday dropped from 6.4 per 1,000 births to 6.1 per 1,000 births
