Humboldt Broncos Bus Crash

On Friday April 7th a tragic bus crash happened. This bus crash lead to the death of 15 people and injuring more than dozen others. All the people who were on the bus were apart of a hockey team from Canada called the Humboldt Broncos.
The hockey team’s driver collided with a tractor trailer. This crash was one of the deadliest crashes that happened in Canada. This tragedy brought up a crash that happened in 1986 when the Swift Current Broncos slid off of an icy highway. The crash that happened to the Humboldt Broncos is way too early to find out the cause of the crash. Photographs of the wreckage showed the twisted trailer with most of its wheels in the air and the bus on its side and its back portion destroyed. The force of the crash sent both vehicles into the ditch at the northwest corner of the intersection. Aerial footage of the crash showed the bus on its side, its roof peeled back and its front end destroyed. The trailer of the truck was nearby in a shattered mess, with bags of its peat moss cargo scattered all around. The tractor part of the truck was intact, but it was lying on its passenger side.
This crash has left Canada devastated. Hockey fans from all over the world left in awe knowing the bright future of these boys were stripped away. Schools all over the United States began to wear sport jerseys to commemorate the loss of those that were killed. But with the non-violent ways that kids have worn jerseys, some have gotten into trouble because of it. Philippe Volek in Montreal, Quebec has been suspended for wearing a jersey. “It tampered with the school code,” the principal of the school said. He thought it would be okay to pay tribute to those that have lost their lives but the staff thought otherwise.
By Monday evening, a GoFundMe page for the players and their families had raised more than $6.4 million, the result of more than 84,000 donations. These proceeds helped the families dramatically.
