Are Facebook’s Portal Devices worth the money?

On November 8, 2018, Facebook created a series of video communication devices called Portal.

As Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg wants to try to create new technology for the company,

It seems the lack of technology that Facebook is creating is going downhill.

With the $279 price mark with the only available piece of technology that Facebook has released is the Portal+ which is an absurd amount of money for a piece of a 15.6” screen with a 12MP camera. Like seriously who needs a $200 to “feel there” (with their slogan on their front page.) when you can use Facetime from Apple and Messenger or Duo from Google and Facebook.

With the help of Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa it has voice commands While at it, Google and Amazon have their own version of a virtual assistant which is the Google Home Hub (from $80-$130) and The Amazon Alexa Show (from $86-$200) which are a way more cheaper substitute from Google than Amazon and Facebook’s Portal cause of the different models and generations.

Since the hacking of Facebook in July 2017 till September 16, 2019. Some fellow users worry about the device getting hacked into and getting their personal information. It worries many since you honestly never know when and how people can get into your social media accounts.

So the verdict. Are the “Portal” devices worth it from Facebook? The answer is no since you shouldn’t pay a total of $129-$279 since you have Facebook’s Messenger and Facetime as well as whatever Samsung/Android uses.
