College football is raved for its rivalry

College+football+is+raved+for+its+rivalry+

As the fall season stumbles upon hardcore football fans, a fine line is drawn between whether or not the National Football League (NFL) or the college football league is a better choice to turn to for a football lover.

If you watched the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game on the night of September 10,  you would know that college football is the better option. That game embodied what college football is truly about: the rivalry, the fans and the excitement. It put into light why college football is so much fun to be a part of as compared to NFL football.

A major part of the college football experience is the fans. From Death Valley in Clemson, to the Big House in Ann Arbor, college football games are unlike those of any other sporting event in the world.

Often dressed in the same color, college football fans are incredibly energetic and so deafening that they might actually damage ear drums.

These fans also take school rivalries to a new level and are the reason for the mind-blowing screams in the stands.

Because colleges are the homes to their students, college rivalries are more intense than any rivalry in the NFL. Rivalries such as those between Michigan and Ohio State and Alabama and Auburn are great examples of how intense these rivalries truly are. The fans and players alike have a deep hatred for the other school, and it shows on the field. As tensions increase, the more interesting and energetic the games become.

Since the bowl games in college football are so selective, every game is a must-win if a team wants to win a championship.

In the NFL, a team can go 8-6 and still go deep into the playoffs, such as the Packers last year.

However, there are no playoffs in college football. One loss and a team could be done for the season. This adds stress and creates more intense games for all extreme college fans.

This fact, in addition to the fact that players are playing for the love of the game, and not for the money, leads to much more exhilarating games and more devastating losses.

You will never see a college player not play his heart out, which is more than you can say about the NFL.

College is a place to have fun, where students are given the opportunity to be part of a great community. When Saturday comes around, that community stops whatever it is doing and heads on out to watch the football game.

College football fans are the best fans in sports, and the college spirit is something untouched by the NFL. The rivalries are intense, and every game matters. This intensity and excitement is just one of the many  reasons why college football is loved and why it surpasses the NFL.
