IB candidates receive their diplomas

IB graduates stand as their fellow graduates receive their diplomas.

After taking rigorous classes, doing hours of community service and completeing several projects, IB students will finally get their diploma.

It takes a lot of hard work to achieve IB candidate status. Candidates have to complete many tasks to even be considered.

Today in the Auditorium during Atom Time, IB graduates recieved their diploma in front of many students who attended to see this special event.

These students already graduated last year, but it takes another year for them to receive their IB diploma.

The ceremony started out with the IB graduates sitting up on the stage. They all took turns to comment on their experience and many say it was worth the stress and work. Theory of Knowledge Instructor John Hawes and Extended Essay Coordinator Mary Ann Richardson both gave a speech to the IB graduates.

Hawes was up first to congratulate.

“They are magic,” Hawes said.

Hawes asked the IB graduates to stand up as he talked to them.

“You tend to see the world in all it’s enormous capacity,” Hawes said.

Up next was Richardson who made a few comments about AHS.

“Without the IB program we will be stuck,” Richardson said.

Here are the lists of students who received the IB diploma. 21 of the candidates were able to attend.
