This summer Uphold taught at a program for Johns Hopkins University about crystals and polymers and also spent a lot of time at the beach.

This year, she is teaching Honors and IB Biology, replacing Zachary Minchow-Proffitt, who previously held the position for a year. Uphold wants her students to know that she may speak a bit differently than them because she grew up in the countryside.

In her free time, she likes to swim, hike, spend time outside and try new things. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2012. This year will be her first instructing a high school class having been a middle school teacher in previous years.
