AHS Students’ Summer Plans

With summer just around the corner, AHS students are already making plans for a good break.  Many will be visiting families and others will be at the beach.  Others are hoping to become employed and earn money for future expenses.

“I plan to get two jobs, hopefully at Goodwin House and Harris Teeter.  The money I earn working will be my spending money during college,” senior David Sillah said.

Branches of the Armed Forces have recruited various seniors to serve their country.  For that group, summer will entail hard work and preparation.

“I want to get more physically and mentally in shape to be ready for basic training in the United States Air Force,” senior Miguel Alvarez said.

Students will be traveling cross-country to visit their extended families and be active.

“I’ll be at my aunt’s house in California for most of the summer,” sophomore Donye Neal said.  “I will play a lot of basketball while I’m there.”

Others want to remain local and experience more of what Virginia has to offer.

“I’ll be spending a lot of time at Busch Gardens and with my cousins at their house in Woodbridge,” sophomore Shawn Diggs said.  “I’ve been to Busch Gardens many times before but I always have great fun.”
