Spartans

Tucked away in a strip mall in Burke, Spartans is a Greek-style family restaurant that offers large portions of homemade, delicious food. As soon as we pulled up in front of Spartans, we could smell the sweet, fragrant aromas of Italian food. Spartans was completely packed with a wide range of clientele and we found ourselves waiting for at least ten minutes before we were able to procure at a well lit-table.

There were families huddled around sharing spaghetti, pizza, buttery garlic bread and quaint couples talking quietly. The atmosphere of this restaurant is perfect for large parties as well as intimate dates so whatever the occasion Spartans is a great fit.

Moments after we were seated, a friendly waitress brought us water and proceeded to tell us about every dish we that asked about. The massive menu is filled with different dishes ranging from pasta to homemade lasagna to specialty sandwiches to cool crisp salad combos.

After spending at least 15 minutes pouring over the extensive menu we finally decided on homemade spaghetti served with grilled mushrooms and their famous gyro sandwich.

Another wonderful aspect of Spartans is the price factor. Spartans serve generous portions of food for a very reasonable price. We were shocked to receive such a heaping pile of homemade pasta with homemade tomato sauce and grilled mushrooms when our dish was brought out.

The pasta was extremely hot and satisfied our hunger. The tomato sauce was light, tasty and full of appealing flavors. We immediately realized why they pride themselves off of their homemade tomato sauce.

We saw a lot of people ordering pasta dishes throughout the restaurant so we encourage you to try one of their famous pasta dishes. The gyro was also extremely delicious and was one of the best gyros either of us had ever tried.

The light, crispy pita went perfectly with the creamy yogurt sauce and tender, juicy lamb strips. The gyro came with a heaping pile of crispy, golden French fries that quickly disappeared from the plate because they were so wonderful and addicting.

The staff at Spartans is extremely pleasant and makes your night extra special by treating you with an ample amount of hospitality. Because our waitress was exceptionally in-tune to our needs we decided to give her a generous tip.

Even with the tip our meal came out to be under $25 and we walked away with abundant amounts of leftovers. Spartans is definitely a restaurant to visit if you are looking for a huge meal for a relatively cheap price.
