45 students received awards for perfect attendance and exemplary character.

The ceremony, held in Clausen Hall, highlighted the achievements that many do not normally notice, but are very important regardless.

10 of the 45 students did not have perfect attendance, but instead had displayed exemplary character traits, such as honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.

“I was shocked,” said junior Ashton Johnson, who received the award for exemplary responsibility. “Someone else should have it honestly. I thought that there were so many others doing such a better job than me, but I am grateful.”

When being introduced by the master of ceremonies and Dean of Students Hassan Mims, Ashton was described as “hard working” and never making “excuses” for himself.

“I would choose him for all of the character awards if I could,” said Mims.

As a token of accomplishment, each award recipient received two free movie tickets from AMC Theaters, courtesy of the PTSA.

The ceremony was followed by a breakfast for the award recipients and their families.
