Battle of the classes 2016

Guess what time it is? It’s time to battle it out. Battle of the classes will be held on April 29, 2016 and the Battle of the Classes Committee, as well as Leadership, encourage all classes to participate. However, not all classes will be able to attend this exciting and fun pep rally. “A week before Battle of the Classes, feathers will be sold and classes with the most purchases will be able to attend,” senior head chair of Battle of the Classes Janan Gokturk said. What is battle of the classes about? Battle of the classes has been going on for a few years here at Annandale and each year the relays and battles change. “This year relays will be different from the past. We’re incorporating our “survivor” theme into our games and we’re adding some new twists to incorporate more students and faculty.” As of right now, the Battle of the Classes Committee and Leadership have been meticulously planning so that the student body can have a great time and enjoy the event. All freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors that attend the pep rally will have 8 representatives battling. Make sure you get all of your classmates in your W4 class together and plan to purchase as many feathers as possible for only 25 cents, so that you can help determine who’s class is really best.

The annual battle of the classes competition Battle of the classes is an annual competition where eight students representatives from each class come together to represent their classmates and compete to win the ‘AHS spirit stick’. This year the competition will be held on Fri. April 29 during an extended W4 class period.

To be able to see the class showdown students must purchase feathers during all lunches for 25 cents the week leading up to the competition. Leadership students will then go around to the classes and put up feathers on their doors and by the end of the week the classes with the most feathers will get to attend to competition.

Battle of the classes is many students favorite event because it resembles a very large pep rally, the only difference is that one class is declared the winner at the end and there is a much more competitive vibe throughout.

“[Battle of the classes] is really my favorite event out of the whole year because you have students who really want to be there and students seem to get very competitive and excited to win” AHS Leadership sponsor Carmen Bartley said. “I’m just excited to see who wins.”

Although the battle is held every year the events and relays that students participate in change.

“This year relays will be different from the past. We’re incorporating our “survivor” theme into our games and we’re adding some new twists to incorporate more students and faculty” senior head chair of Battle of the Classes Janan Gokturk said.
