New Year, new me

Every new year people make goals and they start out pretty good until it ends up not working out.

“You got to start somewhere, and New Years is the perfect way to move past your past and leave there,” sophomore Daniel Lee said.

Some of these goals might be losing weight or gaining weight, going to the gym, being more active, getting a good grade, getting a job or making more friends despite whatever it is. People start off by making goals but are they really goals?

Some people want a fresh new start while others don’t think much of it. It’s a really big deal to people and they make goals but mostly fail or give up throughout year because of challenges but some like the way things or they just don’t care about.

“My goal is to pass my classes,” freshman Michelle Tran said.

Many people accomplish what they want and influence others. The one question is Do people really know what goals are? Do they have enough knowledge about goals to make goals?

Some of the goals or thing people wanted to succeed in is having a fit body, getting good grades or saving up money and so much more but this sound more of a statement than a goal.

“A goal is a goal it has it has its own meaning to different people,” freshman Sahra Omar said.

A goal has to be specific, realistic, measurable, timely and achievable. So maybe that’s what went wrong on because without this thing it’s not really a goal. Maybe this why people can’t accomplish a thing. So if you want to accomplish your goal start using the mnemonic “SMART”. Have a good year and don’t forget to make your statement a goal.
