Frozen yogurt: a healthy treat

The new frozen yogurt fad seems to be taking America by storm. With a store in almost every shopping center or mall, this is a trend that probably won’t be going out of style anytime soon.

Frozen yogurt, also known as “fro-yo”, is a much healthier alternative to ice cream. Containing only about one fourth of the fat present in ice cream, frozen yogurt can still satisfy that after-dinner sweet tooth. The fat content in ice cream is generally around 13%, while the fat content in frozen yogurt is much lower, around only 3%. Although frozen yogurt may be a little more expensive than ice cream, it is a lot healthier and well worth the money.

“I like frozen yogurt more than ice cream because it’s healthier and it tastes a lot better,” said junior, Evelyn Jaramillo. One of Jaramillo’s favorite places to get frozen yogurt is Yogen Früz in Tysons. Yogen Früz is just one of many popular places to get frozen yogurt, others include Iceberry, Tcby, and Sweetgreen.

The trendy treat of frozen yogurt will be around for a while, so whether it’s an after school snack or an after dinner treat, frozen yogurt is the way to go.
