Last weekend I went to Georgetown. Although my friends and I arrived in the middle of the day, the weather was extremely biting and cold. During our walk through Georgetown we would take breaks inside little boutiques to defrost and attempt to regain the feeling in our toes.
The intense cold did nothing to discourage faithful runners and bike riders that filled the pathways along the canal. The streets were filled with dog-walkers as well. Georgetown has a distinct city life, filled with small businesses and a multitude of customers.
We visited a little shop called J. Chocolatier, located just off Main Street. It was decorated in a modern way with a feng shui atmosphere.
I tried “drinking chocolate” for the first time, which is very different from the hot chocolate that you make from packets at home.
The associate behind the counter explained that drinking chocolate is different than hot chocolate because it is made from melted chocolate instead of chocolate powder.
It was good, but very rich and much thicker than regular hot chocolate. I also got to try a chocolate covered date for free.
Unfortunately the date was really chewy and unappealing.
Any type of hot chocolate also never fails to warm you from the inside out. Georgetown is a fun place to go if you are looking to get out of your house and wander around.
I would definitely recommend it to people who are looking to get out and explore. Last weekend I, Anna Lynch went to Georgetown.
