The Atoms Baseball team’s spring season has finally started. The team is set to grow in skill over the next few weeks across both varsity and junior varsity.
Many players may be new to the team but have baseball experience from previous teams and programs.
Senior Cole Cardwell sees lots of promise for the upcoming season:
“I think that this is definitely going to be a really pivotal year for our program,” he said, “We have a really strong senior class. We also have around six or seven seniors and all of us have been playing baseball since our freshman year.”
Freshman Riley WIlliams sees differences between this season and his previous seasons of little league baseball:
“This season there are a lot of people, higher competition, and it’s been fun meeting new friends,” he said.
The team hopes to be competitive within the district as Head Coach Rudd says this is the strongest and fastest varsity team he has seen.
The Atoms baseball team is on track to have their first scrimmage of the season against Rock Ridge High School at home on March 16th at 6:00 PM. The Atoms will then face a few heavily familiar teams such as the Lewis High School Lancers, the Edison High School Eagles, and the Falls Church High School Jaguars in March and April.
