Why you should mod a 3ds

The Nintendo 3ds was officially discontinued in March of 2020, and thus ended an era for many gamers. And only 4 years later Nintendo would officially shut down the E shop and 3ds online servers. But this also caused many 3ds games to be locked only to the 3ds. And with the surging prices of 3ds games it is hard for any one to be able to realistically buy them. Furthermore if you want a 3ds in 2024 you must prepare to spend big. The high pros of modding a 3ds are that you can play every single 3ds game all for free. In doing the math you would be saving a huge amount of money. I for example currently have 12 games downloaded on my 3ds which is about $456 in savings.

Modding a 3ds is actually easier than it seems. The word “hacking” or “modding” can sound intimidating but there are countless videos that give an easy tutorial to follow. You will need a SD card or microsd card, a computer that can read micro sd card or buying a usb sd card reader, and most importantly a 3ds

An Old 3ds can vary from $80 to $120. I would not recommend it as it is not best worth your money and there are way better versions. You should aim for the 3ds that I have a “New” 3ds xl.

It has a huge screen and feels very premium to hold in your hands. But prices for this handheld soar to $210+. A more reasonable price is $150 for a normal 3ds xl which has less processing power than a “New” version but still offers all the features of a 3ds.
