The differences between Pakistan and the U.S.

Have you ever thought about what is different between Pakistan and the U.S? When I came here I couldn’t believe how difficult it was to adapt to the new customs and environment. The three differences between Pakistan and the U.S. are food, clothes and culture.

Pakistani food is different than the food here. In Pakistan, we eat spicy food but not in the U.S. We cook in a different way than they cook here. When other people eat Pakistani food they like it. We can’t find good Pakistani food in the U.S.

The culture is different than here. In Pakistan girls can’t go outside without a brother, father or mother. In Pakistan girls can’t talk to boys. In Pakistan when girls get married, they have to stay with their husband’s family. Gender rules are very different in Pakistan.

Pakistani clothes are very different then the clothes here. In Pakistan we wear shalwer kameez. However, Pakistani girls wear hijabs when they go outside. In Pakistan, some boys wear shalwer kameez too.  Pakistani dresses are different than what we wear in this country.

When I had to move to this country it wasn’t easy to survive with my family. I didn’t have to change my Pakistani food, clothes and culture because we brought those things here. However, sometimes it is hard to live here. I miss many things about my country Pakistan.
