“When I attended AHS for my junior year, I didn’t know anybody at all, so it was great to get out there and make a few friends,” Woodbridge HS graduate Daniel Griffin said.

The day was inaugurated on September 21, 1982 with the ringing of the Peace Bell at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. It is meant to cease all violence at least for 24 hours so that aid can make it into war zones and possible truces can be reached.

This year, being the 30th anniversary, there are plans for a concert at Wembley Arena in London. Headliners will include pop rock artists James Morrison and Sir Elton John.

“I mean I wanted to do it last year but I never got to,” senior Jasmine Lee said. “This being my last year in AHS, I hope [to go], I’m pretty excited to be a part of this and leave a memory.”

Many seniors have the same motive as Lee in wanting to have a great memory to reminisce about, whether it be this, a football game or Prom.
