Synthetic turf to be installed

The Fairfax County School board has voted in favor of funding the installation of synthetic turf for a number of Fairfax high schools, AHS included.

The project, which is set to cost $1.5 million, will see to it that synthetic turf fields will be installed in various FCPS fields: Thomas A. Edison, J.E.B Stuart and Thomas Jefferson High School, Mount Vernon High School, South County Secondary School, West Potomac High School and Hayfield Secondary School.

The turf will facilitate to the growing demands by the County’s athletic departments. The synthetic material provides even playing surfaces, without the need for watering/mowing and can be used year-round.

No date has been set yet for installation.
