Drug-sniffing dogs were brought into the school for routine drug searches.

A joint Lockdown Drill and drug search was conducted this morning during W8. The drug search was a routine sweep conducted by the Fairfax County Police, and drug-sniffing dogs were brought into the school to aid in the search.

“The purpose of conducting the Lockdown Drill and drug search is to maintain a safe school environment for our students and teachers,” Principal Vincent Randazzo said in an email sent out to staff after the drill.

While the initial lockdown was happening, many students were unsure of what was happening. There were initial reports of students saying Lake Braddock Secondary School was also on lockdown, which turned out to be false.

“I was really scared, because I thought it was a real lockdown,” senior Faith Paletti said.

The search was concluded at 10:19 a.m. and the school day was able to continue as scheduled without delays to the class schedules.
