Seniors Prepare for Graduation

In classes and the hallways it is easy to spot a senior who is suffering from bad case of ‘senioritous’, a frown and tired eyes are a dead give-a-way. Being in the same place for three and a half years, students are ready to finish their high school careers and experience a change of pace.

There are certain requirements that are necessary for students to meet in order for those eligible to graduate to participate in the ceremony. All students are compelled to take care of all obligations which include returning or paying for text books, paying any parking ticket the student may have received and each student must pay the fee for the cap and gown. “Graduation is a privilege not a right,” said graduation coordinator Cindy Hook.

Every senior has been promised they will initially receive five tickets. Depending on the number of students that are eligible to graduate at the end of the year and the number of unused tickets, students that are in need of additional tickets could be able to buy extra the morning of graduation.

While the meeting was meant to inform students on what will be needed to graduate, it was also meant to excite students about the fun events that bring the class of 2010 together. “ Listening to all of the plans our class officers and administrators have in store for us got me really excited,” said senior Daniel Blasser, “ The all night grad party sounds like so much fun!”

All night grad is an event for seniors to attend following the graduation ceremony. This year’s senior class booked the Audrey Moore Recreation Center for the affair. Like the 2009 all night graduation party, 2010 is expecting to have a money cage in which students have a certain amount of time in to grab as much money as possible. “My brother told me last year about the money cage and it sounded like so much fun,” said senior Jenny Miller, “I have a pretty good strategy planned so I can get a ton of money.”

With only four tortuous months left for the class of 2010, students are striving to reach the end of this long journey. There is just one thing to remember, you only have one chance to be a senior. Instead of wishing these last few months away embrace this experience that has been given to you. Leave AHS with no regrets and a ton of memories.  Make the most of the time you have but be ready to exchange your text books for your cap and gown!
