Carli’s Corner: Missing an old friend

Carlis Corner: Missing an old friend

Dear Carli,

A person that I used to be really good friends with changed a lot, and I’m afraid I don’t like the new him. He’s so different than he used to be and I feel like he completely went against everything he ever stood for. I like him as a person, but his life now consists of activities that don’t really fit my personality. Is it worth preserving my friendship with him, or should I find new friends who share my same interests and morals?

Dear Missing my old friend,

Sometimes friends don’t always agree on hobbies or activities, but that doesn’t mean you should drop them completely. Keep your connection with this friend, but also search for people who do what you like to do. This way, you’ll gain friendships with people who are interested in your hobbies without risking the diminishment of a really good friendship with this person just because they’ve changed their lifestyle a little. Change might be scary, but that doesn’t mean you should run from it. As long as this friend still treats you the same, you have nothing to worry about.
