What do students eat for Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is a holiday to give thanks and get together with your family and eat some delicious food. The holiday started when pilgrims and the Native Americans got together and had a feast where they enjoyed the harvest. As Thanksgiving is just around the corner, there are some traditional foods that we all enjoy and know: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, pumpkin pie, corn, cranberry sauce.

“On Thanksgiving, I eat chicken, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, injera with meat, and red sauce and potatoes and cooked lentils,” sophomore Niyat Ghiorghis said.

When people think about Thanksgiving, turkey is always the first thing people come up with and is usually the main food everyone eats.

“My whole extended family and I meet up at my grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving lunch and then we play football in the backyard afterward,” junior Mariam Ahmadi said.

“My family and I go to a family friend’s house for thanksgiving where we have a massive Thanksgiving dinner together. We eat turkey, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce,” junior Dinan Sayed said.

“Normally there’s turkey but I don’t really like turkey, we have rolls, green, cranberry sauce, mac’ n cheese, yams, apple cider, and sweet potato pie,” senior Jasmine Mann said.

Thanksgiving is a national holiday where family and friends come together and enjoy a massive feast. Students in Annandale High School all come from different ethincy and cultural background, and add a twist to their thanksgiving dinner.
