The days of big hair and large peace sign necklaces may be over, but the era of artistic fashion for which they stood for still exist today. If you don’t believe this, just try opening your closet door and like many AHS students on this Decades Day, you might find that this is surprisingly true.
The 80’s may have involved much more artistic color than the 50’s, but like in modern times, color proves to be the way style has gone both on and off of the runway. This may prove to be the reason why more AHS students decided to artistically dress up in more “hippie”, colorful attire on Decades Day than in, say, a plain poodle skirt.
“I had been looking for an outfit with color for the 80’s and was worried I wouldn’t have anything to wear, but when I opened my closet I realized that I had everything I needed right there in front of me,” junior Mairead Kennedy said.
Like Kennedy, a lot of the AHS student body found that large, colorful prints and bangles suited well for the artistic fashion of the 80’s. Colorful scarves also were well at hand, doubling as a colorful band to tie in one’s hair while colorful skinny jeans/leggings also artistically may have added to the ensemble gracing the halls of AHS.
