March for Life Protest

On January 27th, one of the largest Marches For Life ever, took place in our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. Speaker at the march, Mike Pence, made history by being the first Vice President to attend the March for Life and speak at it. Because he was speaking, if you wanted to be within a mile radius of Pence, marchers had to go through airport like security and follow a list of items they could not possess during Pence’s speech. Meeting around the Washington Monument, hundreds of thousands of protesters began their march to the Supreme Court. It began a quarter before noon with a concert, then rally talks including Pence’s pro life speech, then protestors marched to the Supreme Court where pro life testimonies were given. The March ended with no arrests or violent protests and the women kicked out of the women’s March a couple days before for being pro life were graciously accepted in the March for Life crowds. I participated in the march and felt a lot of positive energy. It was peaceful with appropriate chants being echoed through the masses and most importantly, I felt safe with my younger siblings because the crowds were calm and under control. I have participated in this march most of the last 17 times it has happened during my life and gained a different experience from it each time. I felt this year it drew the biggest crowd out of all the times I have past participated. I had a great time exercising my Constitutional rights and voicing my opinions for those who can’t.
