Swim Team Celebrates Senior Night at South Run

The Atoms Swim and Dive seniors placed crowns and tiaras on their heads as they prepared to walk past their fellow teammates on their senior night. They each were escorted by their family, friends, and parents before the start of the meet.

Principal Vincent Randazzo also met them at the end and greeted them with a handshake.

“It didn’t really hit me how much I was going to miss swimming at Annandale and how much I was going to miss my team mates until Friday. Listening to our favorite memories from the past four years made everyone so emotional,”  senior Lizzie Manthos said. “My brother even came home from college to escort me. The whole thing was bittersweet.”

Following the senior appreciation ceremony, the swim team warmed-up before their races against the Lake Braddock Bruins. Many of the swimmers

achieved their best times, and there were a handful of first places. The end resulted in a fall for the Atoms, but it was a night full of cheering and spirit.

The meet was held on Friday, January 17 at South Run RECenter.
