Senior says, ‘I do’

Newlyweds Christhian Ayala and Nikki Frush.

Q and A with senior Christhian Ayala who tied the knot with longime girlfriend and AHS alumnus Nikki Frush

Q. How did you propose?

A. After I had recovered from surgery (deviated septum) I told [my fiancé] that I wanted to “try my new nose” so we went to Lake Accotink, where we had our first romantic walk. Once we got there, we took a walk along the trail and stopped at one of the first trees where we carved our initials. She had just finished carving my initials and it was my turn. I wrote an ‘N’ for “Nikki” and then I wrote an ‘A’ for my last name. She said “No, my last name starts with an ‘F’, not an ‘A’!” and I said, “Not for long,” then got down on one knee and proposed.

Q. How did your parents react?

Story continues below advertisement

A. Both of our parents were okay with it because they know we are responsible and truly love each other.

Q. Why did you decide to get married so early?

A. We decided to get married so early because we knew we would never love anyone else as much as we love each other.

Q. What are your future plans? (Kids, moving, etc.)

A. We are not planning on having kids for another 10-12 years. We want to travel a lot before we start a family. We’re not sure where we want to move yet, but we definitely don’t want to stay in this area.

Q. How has your life changed since being engaged/married?

A. We both have gotten a lot more freedom and we are able to make decisions for ourselves.

Q. How does it feel being a married man?

A. [It feels] the same as before, just with a ring on my finger.

Q. How did you pay for the ring?

A. I have a full-time job.

Q. What are your financial plans? (Do you have jobs, live together, etc.)

A. We both have jobs and we also live together. We’re very responsible about our spending and save most of our paychecks for our future.

Q. How has it changed your social life?

A. We have both gained more friends from each other, but we don’t have

as much time to hang out with them like we used to because of school and work.

Q. How did you know she was the one?

A. You just know when you find the right person and I knew she was the right one for me.

There’s no one else I would rather spend my life with and everything feels right when I’m with

her.

Q. Are you going to go to college together?

A. We’re planning on going to the same college but not at the same time because she graduated two years before me.

Q. Since you’re under 18, describe the process you went through to get married.

A. I just had to go to court and get some papers signed.

I think thy should have waited. Getting married in high school is too crazy! If they really loved each other then they could have waited until after high school, and even college. They had the rest of their lives to get married.

Well that wasn’t your decision to make now was it? Everyone chooses their own paths in life and this was the one that we chose.

Sounds a lot like a “One Tree Hill” story! Great article and congrats to them both! :)
