Marky’s Munchery is located behind the Home Depot.

As soon as I stepped foot into the area, I felt welcomed, with the chef playing upbeat music and greeting every person who walked by.

Marky’s Munchery is a classic American food truck that offers an assortment of burgers and hot dogs.

The simple red food truck has an inspirational story with the owner starting off with just a grill in the parking lot of Alexandria Home Depot, building it up to what it is now.

The establishment offers a nice seating arrangement outside with a canopy to protect the customers from the sun.

The menu mainly consists of two dishes but puts a creative twist with foods like bacon-wrapped hot dogs, loaded burgers and “baked bean dogs.”

While waiting in line to order, I saw the chef attending to customers in English and Spanish, which I found very kind.

I ordered one of their more popular dishes, “Marky’s street burger,” which comes with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, sauteed onions, a jalapeno, and sunny-side-up egg, for ten dollars.

Although, when presented with my order, my thoughts of the restaurant changed. My bacon and the bottom of my bun was burnt, and they forgot the jalapeno.

The fries were bland. They didn’t have any seasoning, and as soon as I took my first bite, I could recognize that they came from the frozen food aisle.

The other dish my friend ordered was the cheese chicken sandwich combo for nine dollars.

Respectful of his wishes, the chef cleaned the grill, making sure there was no beef or pork grease on the griddle.

The sandwich looked appetizing and tasted very good. The sandwich had a thick piece of grilled chicken with melted cheese on top. The fries were seasoned with Old Bay and salt and pepper, which made them taste way better. Overall, the sandwich was far better than my first dish.

On the other hand, the service was thoroughly excellent. The chef made sure we were doing well. He was very polite, and we had a genuine conversation with him.

If you’re ever in the mood for American food, Marky’s Munchery is located on Little River Turnpike in the Alexandria Home Depot parking lot. It is open Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
