It has been less than a year since he won the approval of millions of Americans on the twelfth season of American Idol. With a name you can’t forget, Georgia native Phillip Phillips releases his first studio album ‘The World from the Side of the Moon.’  Phillips, known for his husky voice and gifted guitar playing skills blows audiences away with the fifteen spectacular tracks featured on his new album.

Phillips is a natural born musician; he is unique and brings a new edge to rock music. The first track on the album “Man On The Moon,” immediately drags you in, hook, line, and sinker. His smooth guitar playing skills and ridged vocals come to life immediately. In his other song “Gone, Gone, Gone” which you’ve probably already heard on the radio, captures Phillips’ raspy voice in a beautiful light. He sings of loving an ex-lover even after the relationship ends, the upbeat song and its chorus sticks with listeners leaving them with a bittersweet feeling. The track “Hold On,” exposes Phillips’ vocal range, which may I say, is near perfect. Then comes the soft track “Tell Me A Story,” expressing Phillips’ outlook on the hardships of life as he sings, “Live with what you have now and make the best of what’s to come.”

Then comes “Get Up Get Down,” revealing Phillips’ sultry twist to rock and roll. Its catchy chorus gets you to start taping your feet. A track similar to this, “Drive Me,” definitely gets you into the dancing mood, leaving you with a fun vibrant state of mind. The next song “Can’t Go Wrong,” gets listeners in an feel good mood, something everyone loves being in. Then there’s the track “A Fool’s Dance,” this track has to be one of the best on his album. From the instruments, to the lyrics, to his flawless vocals, this track is unforgettable. The song “Hazel,” is a laid back, effortless, acoustic track while catching Phillips in a more natural setting. Last but not least, the album ends with the song “Wicked Game,” another song that contends with being one of the best on the album. Phillips really puts his raw emotion into this song and it will bring chills down your spine.

This is hands down the best album I have listened to in a long time. There is not one bad track on this album; every song is worth listening to. Phillip Phillips is a rising star in the music industry and this won’t be the last time you hear of him. This album is worth every penny.
