Students’ alter-egos show on Superhero day

Alternate identities roamed the hallways of AHS on Oct. 8, as students clad in Spandex and neon leggings showed their spirit for Homecoming Week.

“[I dressed up] because it’s funny,” said freshman James Barker, who donned a Superman costume. “And you don’t usually get to wear UnderArmour pants to school.”

As super hero/super villain day was the first day of honoring next week’s Homecoming Dance, some students felt it a responsibility to show spirit.

“It’s my senior year and I figured I should probably participate in the spirit days because I’m planning on going to the dance,” said senior Caroline Hill.

Students are able to participate in a spirit week competition during all lunches by being tallied for their creativity with the Leadership Club.

Although Columbus Day Weekend and four more full days of school separate freshman Jessica Andia from the Homecoming Dance, she dressed as Batman to, “Get pumped [up]!”

The full schedule of spirit week includes Tacky Tuesday on Oct. 12, Disney day on Oct. 13, Western day on Oct. 14, and Atomic day (freshman wear red, sophomores wear white, juniors wear facepaint, seniors wear togas) on Oct. 15.
