The Michigan Wolverines and Washington Huskies have advanced to the college football playoff national championship where they’ll face off in Houston on Jan. 8.
On Monday two semifinals NO.1 ranked Michigan edged the NO.4 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in overtime 27-20 in the Rose Bowl, while No.2 Washington defeated the NO.3 Ranked Texas Longhorns 37-31 in the Allstate Sugar bowl.
In an electric match, Michigan and Alabama found themselves tied at 20-20 after regulation, forcing the game into overtime for just the second time in the game’s history. After Michigan running back Blake Corum scored a touchdown to put his team in the front, the Wolverines defense stopped the Alabama quarterback, Jalen Milroe, on fourth down at the 3-yard line to advance to the National Championship game on Janu. 8 in Houston.
“The game was elite, I can’t wait for the National Championship game”, said junior Hamza Wasuge.
In the other semifinal, after a masterclass three quarters from Washington Quarterback Michael Penix Jr., the Huskies found themselves up 13 and Texas didn’t seem to ever get themselves back into it. The game ended 37-31 after Texas failed to convert on 4th and 11 on the game’s final play.
All of this setting up a colossal exciting national championship game between the two best teams in college football.
