Taco Rock coming soon

The long awaited Tex Mex style restaurant, Taco Rock, is opening very soon inside of the newly designed Pinecrest Plaza on Little River Turnpike. It will be just like the original Taco Rock in Arlington, which features “classic Tex Mex street food” made with blue corn tortillas.

Co-owner Nick Cordero had hoped to open in May. Due to the pandemic they had to stop their renovation and building and the storefront had to just sit and wait until they were able to start back up again.Taco Rock is going into the empty space between Firehouse Subs and another vacant storefront.

The new restaurant, at 6548 Little River Turnpike in Pinecrest Plaza, will have seating for about 150 people, including a tequila bar and large outdoor patio space for outdoor eating and drinking. Beer, wine, and cocktails are also available for eating in as well as takeout, the restaurant will offer the same approach and menu as it’s previous Taco Rock locations. Offering classic and innovative tacos made with blue corn tortillas. Other items include ceviche, poppers, and for dessert, ice-cream stuffed churros.

“I’m excited for the new restaurant,” sophomore Emmanuel Adomakoh said. “It will be nice to try something new especially because I have seen pictures of their food online and it looks really good. One of my friends has tried Taco Rock before and he said it was really good so that’s another reason why I can’t wait for them to finally open.”

Taco Rock is the third new storefront at Pinecrest Plaza in recent months, following the Lidl, a grocery store and Granddaddy’s Skillet. Partners at Taco Rock hope and plan to open 10 more locations over the next five years in Northern Virginia.

With Taco Rock expected to open in mid December it would be a change to the traditional Christmas and winter styled foods that most people are used to eating during the late and early months of the year.
